Skin Rejuvenation

Laser Facial Rejuvenation Albuquerque

We have several options for Laser Facial Rejuvenation! From the Regenlite, for non-invasive skin tightening, to the Isolaz, for non-invasive sun spot treatments, to the ProFractional and MicroLaserPeel, for more aggressive skin resurfacing… we almost certainty have a laser treatment for your needs!

Wrinkles and Fine Lines Treatments

The Regenlite:

The Regenlite works very well for fine lines and wrinkles! It works beautifully around the eyes (and even gives somewhat of an eye lift!) It is the most common treatment we do for skin rejuvenation because it’s cost-effective, non-invasive, with no-downtime, and no pain! It works by healing and repairing damaged collagen fibers (from sun exposure, age, etc). The average number of treatments is 3-6 (depending on how deep the wrinkles are, lifestyle – e.g., smoking, sun exposure – genetics, and other variables). It is most effective to do the treatments every 2 wks. The improvement continues for at least 3 months. Most clients need 1-2 treatment per year to “keep up” with the aging process!*

Regenlite Skin Rejuvenation Pricing:

  • Spot treatment (one or two spots) $ 90 per treatment
  • Limited (ex: chin and above lip)    $190 per treatment
  • Partial (ex: t-zone/beard)                $290 per treatment
  • Full Face (or equivalent area)         $390 per treatment
  • Large (ex: partial back/chest)         $490 per treatment
  • Very Large (ex: full back)                 $590 per treatment

  • Package of 9 treatments: 20% off

The balance does not expire. Also, you may receive a prorated refund of the balance (discuss with us for details.)

Note: The average number of treatments for Regenlite skin rejuvenation is 6-9. After 9 treatments (same area/price), all treatments (even maintenance treatments) are 50% off!

The Profractional Erbium Laser:

The Profractional laser is used for fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. The Profractional is a “fractional” treatment, going deep into the damaged skin, but only treating a fraction of the skin at a time (if it were to treat 100% of the skin at this depth, it would create a scar!) By treating a fraction of the skin at a time, it can vaporize out columns of deeply damaged tissue, while leaving the remaining tissue intact, allowing the skin to heal very quickly! These columns then create collagen and elastin to correct acne scars, wrinkles and texture irregularities.*

The Sciton Profractional laser is a significant improvement over other ablative lasers. It uses Erbium, rather than CO2 (or nonablative fractional treatments that use heatlike the Fraxel laser). This makes it safe for even darker skin types, like Hispanic, Native American, and other “exotic” New Mexican skin types! Profractional laser treatments offer dramatic results and quick healing for patients interested in minimizing wrinkles, acne scars and improving skin texture with little to no downtime.

How is the Profractional laser different from other laser treatments?

Before Profractional laser treatments, there were two types of laser treatments: fully ablative and non-ablative. Fully ablative laser treatments involve vaporization of entire layers of skin cells at a very high temperature. This treatment is very effective but is associated with a high incidence of side effects and typically requires a lengthy healing period. Non-ablative laser treatments can have a lower incidence of side effects and little healing time, but require numerous treatments over many months and have widely variable results. Profractional treatments combine the effectiveness of ablative lasers with the benefits of non-ablative lasers.*

How does the Profractional laser work?

The Profractional Laser treatment is designed to target specific portions of damaged tissue. By creating microscopic “wounds” within the targeted areas, Profractional laser treatments trigger the body’s natural healing process accelerating the production of collagen and new, healthy skin cells.*

What are the risks of ProFractional laser treatments?

Swelling and redness are the most common side effects from treatment. If swelling does occur, it is minimal and generally subsides within a day or two. Redness generally occurs and will fade over several days. There is a very limited risk of skin pigment changes, infection or scarring.*

How many treatments will I need?

2-4 treatments is average. Improvement begins quickly, but continues over several months. Optimal improvement is usually visible in 3 months or longer. This time frame and treatment structure allows for complete healing and replacement of damaged tissue with new collagen and elastin, and viable healthy skin cell growth.*

Is the ProFractional Laser Treatment painful?

Most patients describe the treatment as having a “prickling” sensation. A topical anesthetic is available at no charge.*

What precautions should I take after treatment?

You must apply sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher (UVA/UVB) after every two hours of sun exposure. Avoid direct sun exposure before the treatment, during the healing process, and for at least 3 months after treatment.*

Traumatic Scar Treatments

Scars from trauma, such as previous surgical procedures or accidents, are most often treated with the Profractional laser in much the same way as we treat acne scarring.*

For raised scars, the Profractional can be combined with the Micro Laser Peel for enhanced results.

Regardless, even with several treatments, the scar never completely goes away – it just becomes smaller, flatter, and generally less noticeable.*

If you have small, isolated scars, an alternative is to visit with a plastic surgeon for what’s called a scar revision. In a scar revision, the original scar is removed with a scalpel with the goal to create a smaller, less conspicuous scar.*

Profractional Skin Rejuvenation Pricing:

  • Full face                                 $1990 per treatment
  • Partial (1/2 face or less)     $1490 per treatment
  • Small (small areas)              $ 990 per treatment
  • Limited (very small areas) $ 690 per treatment
  • Isolated (isolated lesions)  $ 390 per treatment

The prices for the Profractional treatments includes a skin care kit and a series of low-level laser treatments (Zerona) following the procedure to dramatically reduce redness and downtime.

Package Pricing:

  • Package of 2 treatments: 10% off
  • Package of 3 treatments: 15% off
  • Package of 4 treatments: 20% off

Note: If you buy a package of treatments, and you do not use all of the treatments, you may apply the credit toward future/maintenance treatments, any other treatment or product we offer, or you may transfer the credit to a family member or friend (Gift Cards also available). The balance does not expire. Also, you may receive a prorated refund of the balance (discuss with us for details.)

Note: The average number of treatments for Profractional skin rejuvenation is 3-4. After 4 treatments (same area/price), all treatments (even maintenance treatments) are 50% off!

*Individual results may vary.

Sun Spot Treatments

The Isolaz:

One of the treatments we use for sun spots is the Isolaz broad band light (BBL/IPL). It’s a very effective and gentle (non-invasive with no downtime!) It uses three pulses of light to penetrate and break-up the pigment. Average is 2-4 treatments, which are spaced one month apart.*

The Micro Laser Peel:

For people who want a more “definitive” treatment for sun spots, the Micro Laser Peel may be a good option. The Erbium Micro Laser Peel basically vaporizes off the most superficial lasers of sun damaged skin, taking away the “sun spot”. We can often clear the sun spots in 1-2 treatments, rather than the 2-4 often needed with the Isolaz BBL/IPL. However, with this treatment, there is a bit of healing time (generally about a week.)*

Spider Vein Treatments

Although they aren’t dangerous, many are bothered by the appearance of “spider veins”, particularly when they’re on an exposed body part such as the face and legs. Both men and women in Albuquerque, NM come to our laser center for treatment to eliminate these bothersome veins.*

Spider Veins vs Varicose Veins

Varicose veins look like twisted, bulging ropes beneath the skin. They are most often treated with invasive laser treatments, foam sclerotherapy (injection of a solution into the veins to destroy them) or they can be removed surgically.*

Spider veins are smaller than varicose veins and closer to the surface. They look like tiny tree branches or spider webs rather than “ropes” beneath the skin. Spider veins are generally not treated with surgery, but they can be eliminated ether with sclerotherapy or with laser vein treatments.*

The Sciton Spider Vein laser

At our Albuquerque, NM, laser clinic we treat spider veins with the Sciton ClearScan, 1064nm YAG Laser. Compared to other spider vein lasers, the ClearScan’s longer wavelength reaches the deepest veins while providing the safest laser vein treatment available. The Sciton laser can be used on all skin colors, including darker skin types.*

Who are the best candidates for laser vein removal?

Those individuals with dark veins and light skin color respond most optimally. Individuals with darker skin color the skin tends to compete with the veins for light energy, resulting in the potential for damage to the skin. That’s why tanning should be avoided before and after laser treatments. Because the adjustable sapphire cooling plate of the Sciton Leg Vein Laser protects the skin and because the long wavelength light that is used by this laser tends to penetrate more deeply and scatter less, the 1064nm wavelength used by the Sciton Laser is currently the best available for treating patients with fine veins and darker skin colors.*

What parts of the body can be treated?

Spider veins virtually anywhere on the body can be treated with the Sciton Laser.*

Is laser vein removal “permanent”?

Long-term studies indicate that most of the veins treated with laser are permanently destroyed. However, a certain percentage of the veins are injured but not completely destroyed and, therefore, some of these can reopen. Therefore, it may take more than one treatment to completely remove veins from a particular area, and even then, there may be resistant veins that persist. For vein removal, a 70-90% improvement is a realistic goal.*

What preparation is needed before laser vein treatment?

  • Avoid tanning either before or after your treatment.
  • Shave the hair at the anticipated treatment site
  • Avoid aspirin, Ibuprofen and similar blood-thinning medications before treatment as well as vitamin E. If you take prescribed anticoagulants, such as Coumadin, speak with Dr. Chavez prior to treatment.

Is laser vein treatment painful?

Most patients describe a Sciton laser vein treatment as mildly uncomfortable but not painful. The treatment sensation is compared to the “snap” of a rubber band. The Sciton cooling plate, which provides cooling before, during and after the laser pulse, provides a much more comfortable treatment than other lasers.*

Applying an icepack after laser vein treatment can relieve any discomfort. Further, if you think you have elevated pain sensitivity, or if we are treating a sensitive area, we can apply a topical anesthetic prior to treatment for no additional charge.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Within a few minutes after treatment, the treated area will usually become somewhat red and puffy. This reaction usually subsides within a few hours, although some mild redness may persist for up to 2 days. Since the skin is not otherwise injured, no bandages are necessary.*

How many treatments are needed?

Many veins treated with the laser are permanently destroyed after one treatment. However, a certain percentage of the veins are injured but not completely destroyed and, therefore, some of these can reopen. Therefore, it may take more than one treatment to completely remove veins from a particular area, and even then, there may be resistant veins that persist. For vein removal, a 70-90% improvement is a realistic goal. Generally, treatments are performed at monthly intervals.*

How much do the treatments cost?

The treatment cost depends on the size and number of the veins being treated, and ranges from $190/treatment (for 1-2 small veins) to $1490/treatment (for both full legs). See more details below.

What are the potential risks of laser vein treatment?

Initial redness and/or swelling is common and usually lasts only a few hours or days. It’s possible that a blister can develop, and rarely an infection or scar could result. Any injury to the skin can cause a flare of herpes simplex in people who carry the virus in the treated area. This can generally be prevented with appropriate medication. Those with darker skin types have more risk of color change, either darkening or lightening of the skin, but the Sciton Laser is among the least likely of all lasers to produce these complications, since its long wavelength and sapphire chilling plate protect the skin surface. We have used this laser for many years, and we have never seen skin pigmentation changes in our office.*

Are there any patients that cannot be treated?

With the Sciton Laser, people of all skin types can be treated. The darker the skin type, the more treatments and the slower the treatment, so it is preferable not to have a tan when being treated.

Spider Vein Pricing:

The cost depends on the size of the area being treated. The pricing options are:

  • $190 (spot treatment)
  • $390 (small area)
  • $690 (larger area, or few small areas)
  • $990 (one full leg treatment)
  • $1490 (both full leg treatment).

If it takes more than one treatment to get optimal results, the price will always go down at least one price bracket. For example, if it was $390 for the first treatment, it will go to $190 for the second treatment, even if we treat the same size area.

Laser Hair Removal Treatments:

There are dozens of places in and around Albuquerque for laser hair removal. The truth is, thick, dark hairs are generally easy to treat, and most of these locations can likely provide a good treatment at a reasonable cost. In fact, if you have light skin and dark thick hairs, many other systems work better than ours! So, instead of offering something that you can get “anywhere”, we’ve decided to focus on the hairs that others generally can’t treat – thin dark hairs (like women’s facial hair) on darker skin types (such as Hispanic and Native American.) Most lasers can’t treat these hairs, and it drives women crazy! So, we use the Medlite C6 YAG laser to effectively and comfortably reduce these hairs (there is NO pain or downtime!) It works immediately, and continues to improve with repeated treatments. It also won’t cause patchy hair loss, as sometimes experienced with other laser system! Now, it doesn’t permanently remove all of the hair, but it does provide an extremely safe, comfortable way to reduce the growth and minimize the appearance of that stubborn hair!*

Laser Hair Reduction Pricing (Medlite C6 Q-switched YAG):

  • Full Face (incl. neck):                     $290 per treatment

  • Back, full:                                          $490 per treatment
