The CoolSculpting procedure is a new, non-invasive way to gently, effectively, and permanently reduce fat in targeted areas of your body, resulting in noticeable, natural-looking fat reduction in the treated areas. Unlike traditional lipo, the CoolSculpting Procedure is non-invasive, with no needles and no incisions. There is no need for anesthesia or pain medications and there is no recovery time.

The science behind the CoolSculpting procedure, called Cryolipolysis,™ was developed by world-renowned dermatologists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School. Their research showed that fat cells are naturally more vulnerable to the effects of cooling than other surrounding tissues, and that fat cells can be safely and permanently eliminated without harming the skin.

During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells in specific areas of your body. When fat cells are exposed to cooling during the Zeltiq Procedure, it triggers a process of natural removal, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer. The result is a reduction in fat bulges that is visible in most patients in about two to four months.
How does the CoolSculpting by Zeltiq procedure work?
During the procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to target and permanently eliminate fat cells in specific areas of your body.
What happens to the fat cells?
The exposure to cooling causes the fat cells to begin a process of natural removal, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer. The fat cells in the treated area are gently eliminated through the body’s normal metabolic processes, similar to how fat from food is eliminated.
What are common post-procedure effects?
The Zeltiq Procedure is completely non-invasive, which allows immediate return to normal activities such as work or exercise. Redness may appear in the treated area, and may last from a few minutes to a few hours. Some localized bruising may occur, which clears within a few weeks. Many patients experience a temporary dulling of sensation in the treated area lasting one to eight weeks.
Does the Zeltiq Procedure hurt?
The Zeltiq Procedure is comfortable for most patients. No anesthesia and/or pain medication was needed during treatment in any patients in clinical trials. Typically patients are comfortable enough to read, work on their laptop computers, listen to music on headphones, or simply relax during the procedure.
How long does the procedure take?
Procedure time is one hour per section. Total treatment time can be longer, depending on the size of the area to be treated (how many sections are treated). During your consultation, Dr. Chavez will discuss how long your procedure will take and how much time you should allow for your treatment.
Is there downtime after the procedure?
There is no "recovery time" after the procedure, although you may some soreness, bruising, and or "tingling". You may resume your normal activities on the same day as your procedure, including work and exercise.
How long until I notice results?
In properly selected patients, the Zeltiq Procedure results in a noticeable, measurable reduction in fat bulges in two to four months. Many clients begin seeing some improvement in as little as three weeks (and continue to improve for approx 4 months.)
How many treatments will I need to see results?
The average fat reduction in average size areas is 20-25% fat reduction. The number of treatments will depend on how much fat you want to remove. Two to four months after your initial procedure, you Dr. Chavez can meet to assess your cosmetic improvement and consider additional Zeltiq Procedures to achieve greater fat reduction.
How long do the results last?
The results from Zeltiq is believed to be permanent, because the fat cells are being destroyed. Studies have shown that clients' results have persisted for at least six months or longer after the Zeltiq procedure. Because this is a new technology, long term studies have not been completed.
How is the Zeltiq Procedure different from other procedures?
The controlled cooling of the Zeltiq Procedure targets and eliminates only fat cells. It is non-invasive, with no apparent risk for irregularities or other lasting side-effects. This is thought to provide a permanent reduction in fat cells, unlike some other modalities.
How much does it cost?
We charge $990 for the first section, $890 for the second section, $790 for the third section, and $690 for each addtional section. Average size people can do their lower abdomen in 2 sections and each love handle in a section. For under the bra strap back fat, you can usually get it in one section per side. If you have more than a small amount of fat, most sections need to be treated 2 or even 3 times for best results, with treatments spaced at least 2 months apart. Any repeated treatments on the same area are priced at $690 per section.
